AEA has been presented with the Edie Award for carbon reduction for the Green500 programme.
Funded by the London Development Agency (LDA), and managed by AEA, Green500 aims to reduce the capital's CO2 emissions by 1.5 million tonnes over two and a half years. It has enlisted some of London's largest and most prestigious organisations to take part in a programme of activities designed to reduce the carbon footprint of their London operations.
Since its launch in December 2007, Green500 has attracted over 210 members, including Chelsea Football Club, the London Dungeon and Addison Lee, and has so far saved nearly 150,000 tonnes of carbon.
Commenting on the award, AEA's Stuart Ballinger, Programme Director for Green500 (pictured accepting the award) said, "Green500 plays an important role in helping to meet the LDA's target to cut overall CO2 emissions in the capital by 60% by 2025, and we are delighted to win this award. Green500 goes beyond making just a commitment, and actually delivers a programme of mentoring, behaviour change and reward for businesses that lower their carbon emissions over time. Green500 is about businesses recognising their role in the challenge of climate change, and delivering real carbon savings."
Now in its third year, the Edie awards for Environmental Excellence celebrate the successes of the environmental industry and those companies and organisations working towards a sustainable future.
